GENERAL BACKGROUND
Anthony helps clients with commercial transactions, commercial leasing, corporate, and wills and estates matters.
Before joining Logica Law, Anthony was an associate lawyer of Aydin Bird, Business Lawyers until its closure in May 2019, and continued his practice at Bell Alliance LLP until Dec 2020.
TRANSACTION EXPERIENCE
- Drafting and reviewing contracts for commercial leases, shareholder agreements, real estate co-ownership and joint venture agreements, loan agreements, easements, share purchase, and asset purchase agreements;
- Acting for Purchasers or Vendors for commercial transactions (including the purchase and sale of commercial real property or businesses);
Acting for and advising borrowers or private lenders in secured real property transactions; - Acting for and advising commercial landlords and tenants;.
Incorporating, amalgamating, dissolving, rectifying, and restoring BC Corporations in compliance with the BC Business Corporations Act; - Reorganizations, internal share buyouts, and other corporate restructuring in conjunction with instruction from clients’ tax advisors;
- Draft and settle a variety of trusts, including bare trusts, family trusts, alter ego trusts, and joint spousal trusts, in conjunction with instruction from clients’ tax advisors;
- Drafting Wills, Powers of Attorney and Representation Agreements;
Probate and Estate Administration Applications including compliance with the Wills, Estates and Succession Act B.C;
EDUCATION AND INTERESTS
Anthony completed his J.D. at Thompson Rivers University in 2015, where he received the prestigious TRU Norma Quinn Scholarship for Real Estate Transactions, and was called to the British Columbia bar in 2016.
In a former life prior to becoming a lawyer, Anthony obtained a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Criminology from Simon Fraser University, was a manager at a movie theatre, a commercial real estate assistant, and effectively the shipping department of his family’s small business. These experiences have led to a keen mind for small business considerations while delivering a personable customer-service driven approach to distilling and presenting the law, while still maintaining a high level of detail and nuance in research and strategy to find solutions to assist all clients no matter their level of sophistication or knowledge of the law.
Anthony was born and raised in Vancouver, and relishes the rain and temperate weather that makes “raincouver” home. Anthony enjoys spending quality time with his lovely wife Elizabeth, cooking (more room for experimentation leading to an edible result than baking), and watching movies that are rated over 80% or under 10% on Metacritic (because nobody has time for bad movies unless they are so bad they are ironically good).
