Dave Barroqueiro is a Portuguese-born, and Canadian-raised (from the tender age of two months old), business lawyer, focusing on the small-and-medium business (SMB), technology and e-commerce, privacy and data protection, and creative industry spaces. He has lived essentially his entire life in Vancouver and relishes the opportunity to live and practice law in this great city he calls home.

Dave is a dreamer and a do-er, and loves working with clients to help them achieve their goals while operating on a solid legal foundation. Dave has worked with a wide variety of clients: entrepreneurs with fledgling and growing businesses; technology and e-commerce start-ups; digital and traditional marketers; business and lifestyle coaches and consultants; agencies, actors, musicians, graphic designers, photographers and innumerable other creatives; and many more. As diverse as his clients are, there is one tie that binds them all: they, too, are the dreamers and the do-ers.

Naturally curious and inquisitive, Dave takes the time to understand his clients, their businesses, and their goals and brings a genuineness, honesty, energy and enthusiasm to his practice that his clients greatly appreciate. Dave is a strong advocate of fixed-fee billing wherever practicable, bringing a degree of cost certainty to his clients whenever he can.

EDUCATION AND INTERESTS

Dave received his Bachelor of Arts Degree (Sociology) from Simon Fraser University in 2009. Between receiving his Bachelor of Arts and attending law school, Dave was for several years a Property Manager and Business Development Coordinator for Canada’s largest co-operative housing management company.

Dave received his Juris Doctorate of Laws (JD) from Thompson Rivers University in 2019, where he focused on the areas of intellectual property, telecommunications, employment, and technology law. While at TRU, Dave was a member of a competition-winning legal app development team, was a TA for the Designing Legal Expert Systems course, and was the recipient of the 2019 Neota Logic Alumni Award for Excellence in 21st Century Legal Practice. Between completing law school and beginning his articling term in 2020, Dave was both an Employment Standards Officer with the Ministry of Labour and Technology Coordinator for an arts-oriented legal non-profit organization.

Dave was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2021.
When he isn’t in the office, Dave rocks hard with his three-piece rock band, is a shareholder and director of a legal technology start-up based in Vancouver, regularly plays and watches soccer, enjoys backcountry hiking and camping, and spends time with his partner and their Corgi-Sheltie, Olive
